Hood Covers ASCS Southwest Region at USA
Lonnie Wheatley, TUCSON, Ariz. (May 16, 2009) – Veteran shoe Rickey Hood added another notch to the win column by topping Saturday night's 25-lap American Sprint Car Series Southwest Region feature at USA Raceway.
Piloting the familiar Herrera No. 45x entry, Hood snared his first win under the ASCS banner since September of 2002 in front of Ben Gregg. Defending series champion Rick Ziehl took over the series points lead by taking the show position, with John Carney II and Cody Cambensy rounding out the top five.
Daniel Hutto was sixth, with Kaylene Verville, Mike Martin, Charles Davis, Jr., and Joshua Hodges completing the top ten.
Hutto, Verville and Gregg topped heat race action for the 29-car field, with Davis winning the "B" Main.
