Whitwell First on Fathers Day
Kevin Montgomery Tucson, Arizona (June 20th,
2010) - RC Whitwell captured his third Barnett Harley
Davidson UMP West Modified feature by racing to victory
lane in Saturday night's 25-Lap Father's Day main event at
Tucson's USA Raceway.
Whitwell used his third place starting spot to get to the
front fast as he took the point and never looked back
crossing the line first for the $1000 payday. Cody
Alvarez crossed the stripe just behind Whitwell posting
his best finish of the year while third place point
contender Dane Jorgensen took the final podium position.
Phoenix racers, Ricky Thornton Jr. and Anthony Madrid,
rounded out the top five.
Lonnie Foss captured his first victory of 2010 as he used
lap traffic to pass runner up finisher Terry Hill in the
20-Lap Unifirst Super Stock feature. Foss, driving the
Earl's Tailgaters Pizza and Wings machine, took the
checkered flag slightly ahead of Hill and 3rd
place finisher Dana Boatwright.
Kalvin Catlin won the 20-Lap Factory Stock event after
taking the lead from Dusty Gauthier on lap 18. Gauthier,
2009 USA Raceway Factory Stock champion, returned for the
first time in 2010 and thrilled fans as he blindly led the
majority of the race but came up a few laps shy. Catlin
took honors and climbed the fence with Larry Leetch and
Bill Walton filling the top three spots.
Josh Allred, Jerry Jones and Brian Stehr remain unbeatable
taking top spots in FWD Hornet, RWD Hornet and Dwarf Car
action respectively.

USA Raceway heats up as you cool off with Hot Summer
Nights featuring live music from Flyin Blynd. Cool off
with a giant water slide and a 33' slip and slide and a
chance to see your favorite drivers in the USA Raceway
dunk tank. The stars of the American Sprint Car Series
return this Saturday night June 26th. The
action heats up as the ASCS Sprint Cars are joined by
Factory Stocks, X-Mods, Modified Midgets and Modlites.
General admission tickets will go on sale at 3pm
for only $15, racing will begin promptly at 6:45pm.
