O'Neil, Davis, Harvil and Eatwell
The Life of the Party
Kevin Montgomery Tucson, Arizona (April 18th,
2010) - Nick O'Neil celebrated his birthday weekend in
grand fashion by topping the 25-Lap Barnett Harley
Davidson UMP West Modified feature. O'Neil joined "Chargin"
Charles Davis in victory lane at the end of the night as
they kicked off the USA Raceway after party in style.
O'Neil proved no match for the 30 car Modified field as he
made quick work driving from his 8th starting
spot to the front and never looking back. O'Neil used the
treacherous top groove with perfection in a green to
checkered finish crossing the line in front of RC Whitwell
who battled lap after lap with New Mexico's Stormy Scott.
Scott would settle for a hard fought 3rd with
Chad Ayers and Jimmy Ray rounding out the top 5.
Charles Davis, Jr., picked off his second American Sprint
Car Series Canyon Region feature win in a row by racing to
victory lane in the 30-lap main event. Davis raced
forward from the sixth starting position to take his 16th
career ASCS Canyon Region triumph aboard the Roush Yates
Ford-powered Massey Motorsports No. 50 DRC.
Davis took the checkered flag ahead of R.J. Johnson, with
Josh Pelkey, Andrew Reinbold and pole starter Jeremy
Sherman rounding out the top five.
Jason Harvil stole the show holding off a last lap slide
job by Matt Martinez as he captured another breath taking
SCRA Factory Stock 20-Lap feature. Harvil duked it out
with Martinez and Bo Partain for a good portion the event
with Jody Henderson charging from eleventh to finish 4th
just ahead of Michael Huffman who rounded out the top 5.
Andy Eatwell topped Southwest Modlite action as he took
home a unique piece of hardware for his fifth straight
2010 victory. Landon Cling took advantage of a late race
spin by Tony Evans as he crossed the line just ahead of AJ
Martin to secure the second spot. Mike Martin and Bryan
Miller rounded out the top five.
