FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DAVID CARDEY SHOOTS FOR 3-PEAT THIS SATURDAY AT PERRIS!

(JUNE 9, 2010, RIVERSIDE, CA)  Veteran Sprint Car driver “Dynamite” David Cardey will be taking aim at his third win in three weeks when the USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series returns to its home track, Perris Auto Speedway, this Saturday, June 12th.  Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM with the first race at 7:00.

Cardey, married and the proud father of 1 1/2 –year old son Drake James, used a different approach (not by choice) to win his first main of 2010 in the prestigious “Salute to Indy” at The PAS on May 29th.  The previous two races on the Riverside County half-mile clay oval, the 34-year old led more laps (35 of 60) than any other driver.  However, he dropped out of both of those races before the finish and had nothing to show for it.  At the “Salute to Indy,” he only led three laps, but they were the last three laps in the race and thus earned the likable driver his first victory of 2010.

Cardey started the night on a somber note when he took a memorial lap for late friend Jesse “The Rocket” Hockett who lost his life while preparing his hauler for the weekend’s races in the Midwest.

In qualifying, Cardey timed in fifth fast in the 24 car field.  He placed sixth in his heat race and was forced to start 11th in the 30-lap “Salute to Indy” main event.  He dramatically worked his way through the field and at one point raised the pulse rate of the large crowd when he passed two lead lap cars and one lapped car going into turn three.

Two late race cautions built Cardey’s charge through the pack into an exciting crescendo as he passed the first and second place cars on restarts for his first win of the year.  After the race, the happy and somewhat relieved driver told the large gathering in the stands, “My car was just great tonight and it was a lot of fun there. All those yellows at the end were making me nervous and I was hoping they would put a cap of two or three on them,” Cardey laughed mindful still of the prior race at Perris when he ran out of fuel three laps from the finish while leading.

Not one to rest on his laurels, last Saturday night Cardey had the chance to drive for longtime car owner and Southern California speed icon Don Blair at Victorville Auto Raceway.  After starting on the front row, Cardey dropped back to third.  However, he caught the leaders before taking the lead back in the second half of the 30-lap race and posting his second win in as many Saturday nights.

As always, David Cardey would like to thank the valuable sponsors who keep him on the track in his racing endeavors.  Circle Track Performance, iTi Performance Motorsports, Pick’s Racing Engines, Racer’s Pub, 5-Star Gas & Gear, Monster Media, Down’s Oil, Empire Plumbing, Don, Boss and Scott Daloisio Sports.  To add your company to the sponsor list of David Cardey Racing’s team for the 2010 campaign, please use the contact information at the start or end of this release.
